Midweek Buffet

Another card using the half sheet of galaxy paper that I had left over after making my Buzz Lightyear card. This one has a  little space ship that is inspired by one that I saw on a card recently. I paper pieced mine from upcycled materials- the aluminum liner from a can of coffee (added a layer of packing tape to the backside so the edges wouldn’t be sharp), a scrap of yellow acetate, a few strips of a silver lining from a candy box, and grey striped paper from an old card. Mounted the little ship onto the galaxy paper with one little star (drawn with a white gel pen) winking out from under one of the metal fins. So cute! The sentiment was found on Pinterest and printed on my computer.
The current Bugaboo weekly challenge is to create a card to encourage someone. Decided to add an uplifting message to this card. Not sure who it will be sent to right now… but probably one of my amazing staff members will find it tucked into their workspace sometime in the near future.

I love this free digi from Power Poppy. This time I printed it off twice, on kraft paper and a cream cardstock. Fussy cut the letters from the cream paper, including several attached leaves. Colored the leaves, on both the craft and cream paper, with alcohol markers. Was ready to mount the cream letters on to the kraft colored image, but it didn’t “pop” for me. Saw a piece of vellum peeking out from my craft table mess, slid it over the kraft, and liked the muted result it provided. Plus, it has little bits of gold and bronze metallic shards embedded to add a bit of glimmer. So… attached that with black photo corners, added the cream letters with foam mounting squares… and it is done!

Another entry for the CAS-ual Friday’s CASE a Girl Friday’s (DT) Card Challenge. This time I was drawn to an interesting alphabet centered card by Angela. Pulled out my sticker box and started digging. But nothing grabbed me. Then, noticing the remnants of the many fall cards I’d been making, decided to make a Thanksgiving card. Since pie is my favorite part of that holiday… I know that a few family members will get a kick out of this card. Just need to figure which of them will receive it! (i.e. which is most likely to reward me with pie for thinking of them?!)

And Angela's card that inspired me-

Was feeling like a little bit of “non- tedious” card making, and seems like I am always in need of masculine cards, so stamped this CAS card with an old PSX stamp. My hunter husband informed me that it is a wood duck, and even had a hunting handbook that provided a photo of the birds coloring. I used Tombow markers, but then went back over his body with a white colored pencil to add a sheen to the feathers. Will add a simple sentiment once I know how I’ll be using the card.  Am entering this card into two CAS challenges and also one with an Autumn theme. Here in Wisconsin people are already gearing up for hunting season. So… this is appropriate for that!
